This article is about:

How to create a custom limits file for defining your own custom limits.

Using template as start-point:

A limits file is used by Fluke Energy analyze plus software to assess the measured data according to standards. examples are the EN50160, IEEE519, Netcode, etc.
Most current standards are programmed in FEA plus, but sometimes you want to deviate form them.

If needed it is possible to create your own Limits file when needed.
In FEA start in the title bar at File -> Custom limits Definitions -> Edit from template :

A windows opens and presents a list of XML-files which can be used as basis.:

Then choose one of the xml-files to use, perhaps look with a text-editor (Notepad) for a file which is already matching the parameters you need or require.
To continue press open to open the file.
FEA then immediately asks to save the file before starting the editing.
Give the file a different name and save it.

Then the saved file will be opened in Notepad/Wordpad automatically.
Change the limits you want to have differently and when done save the file (File -> Save).

Loading new file into FEA :

Then in FEA the new limits file still has to be loaded, this is done via File -> custom limits definitions -> manage;

In the pop-up field you see an empty field with limit definitions files, click here on add.
select the file you have created and select open.

The new file is now in the field and is now loaded, choose ok to close this field.

Now the modified limits file can be used with your measurements.

Tip :

Pay close attention to the location where the file is saved.
Initially FEA chooses to save the file in this folder : C:\Users\Public\Documents\Fluke\Energy Analyze\CustomLimits
However FEA is initially looking to this location before loading a limits file : C:\Program Files (x86)\Fluke\Energy Analyze\CustomLimits
This can be a point that might cause some confusion and can't find the modified file.
