- Can I see the firmware version and can I update the firmware of my Fluke 166x installation tester?
Answer:
Installation testers are operating on internal software called firmware. Due to the construction of the tester it has multiple circuit boards.
Two of these circuit boards contain programmable processors. So you have two firmware versions applicable to the tester.
In case of the 166x series the latest version at the time of writing this article (17-06-2021) is 1.09 (shown in the upper display area) and 1.08 (shown in the lower part of the display).
How to see the firmware versions ?
Tester is off, press and hold down F1-key.
Turn the tester on and keep the F1-key pressed for 2 seconds.
Release F1-key and the firmware versions will appear shortly in the screen. If necessary repeat the process to check both numbers.
Updating of the firmware cannot be done locally due to special tools that are required to program the firmware.
