Insulation resistance testing
IEC/HD 60364-6 describes the initial and periodic verification of electrical installations.
Clause 6.4.3.3 describes the measurement of insulation resistance.
In addition to previous editions of this standard, there is a new requirement which claims the insulation resistance measurement between:
- live conductors, and
- live conductors and the protective conductor.
So now the measurement of between all live conductors and against earth is required.
Where appropriate during this measurement, live conductors may be connected together.
In practice, it may be necessary to carry out this measurement during erection of the installation before the connection of the equipment (e.g. lighting or fixed equipment)
