This article outlines what typically happens when a MET/BASE (think MET/TRACK) to MET/TEAM migration service is purchased. This explains a migration-only purchase but if a 3 or 4.5 day onsite visit is purchased along with the migration then these steps are intertwined with an onsite visit from a Fluke Calibration CIT MET/TEAM expert to assist with the Customization, Installation, and Training (CIT) process. Typically, the CIT trip occurs after the initial migration and prior to or parallel with the "Go Live" migration.

The Fluke team typically perform two migrations (sometimes 3) for customers when a migration service is purchased. These are not on demand but ALL of these are scheduled for when they occur so they do not interfere with other customers migrations.

The first migration is a straight migration without any modifications, the customer is still 'live' in MET/TRACK when this is performed. After the initial migration is performed, Fluke sends the migrated MET/TEAM database to the customer along with instructions for how to restore it over their existing sample database that was part of the default MET/TEAM installation. At this point the customer can view their data in MET/TEAM and start to understand and get comfortable with it.

After the initial migration, the customer notes fields that may need to be moved to a better or more convenient place in MET/TEAM and ask questions to better understand where their data migrated to and why, and how MET/TEAM works. This step may include time in meetings with the customer sharing their screen and working with the Fluke team on specific data questions or issues. These meetings are NOT for general training on MET/TEAM, which is accomplished via our standard training offerings such as Web based classes, training conducted in our classrooms in our Everett WA site, or via purchased on-site CIT visits (more info is available below). If necessary, Fluke will develop post-migration SQL scripts during this time to move data within MET/TEAM.  Fluke sends these scripts to the customer along with instructions to run the updates on their MET/TEAM database to review and confirm things are improved. This also provides an opportunity for the customer to work on necessary Crystal Reports for their eventual 'go live' migration. During this time the customer is still 'live' and doing production work in MET/TRACK while in parallel, doing learning, configuration, and testing in MET/TEAM. Depending on complexity / number of post migration scripts developed, sometimes this process is repeated a second time, prior to the 'go live' migration.

Finally, when the customer is comfortable they have everything in place with MET/TEAM, a 'go live' migration will be scheduled. Together, we pick a date and time for the customer to stop using MET/TRACK (and MET/CAL) and perform these steps:

  1. Customer sends Fluke Calibration CIT a zipped copy of their latest MET/BASE db file.
  2. Fluke will migrate it, run any 'post migration' SQL scripts that were developed during the previous migrations
  3. Fluke deliver a final 'go live' MET/TEAM database, typically within 24 hours. If this is expected to take longer because of size or complexity, this process may be scheduled over a weekend for Fluke to have more time to return the migrated MET/TEAM database.
  4. Customer restores the freshly migrated 'go live' version over their exiting MET/TEAM database and are considered live on MET/TEAM.
