The purpose of this article is to show you how to investigate why the Fluke-190 Series II Scopemeter is not communicating with the Flukeview software. We will focus on verifying the USB driver has installed correctly and what can prevent the driver from not working correctly.

  1. Turn on instrument (Fluke-190 Series II).
  2. Connect USB cable to instrument (Fluke-190 Series II) and USB port on PC.
  3. Open the computers Device Manager by right clicking on Windows Icon in bottom left corner of computer screen.
  4. Select Device Manager in the list by left clicking on that item.

Look at your computers Device Manager.
Below is an example of the Device Manager where the driver installed properly, the two items circled in green means the driver is installed and ready to go.
If you also have the red circled item in the Ports directory it needs to be uninstalled or disabled. That item (Intel Active Management Technology (SOL) causes the Fluke driver to not work properly.

If the driver hasn’t been installed the Device Manager will show another directory in the Device Manager labeled Other devices and the Fluke USB Serial Port item will be in that directory with an exclamation mark.

The steps to install the Fluke-190 Series II USB driver manually is in another article named How to Manually install Fluke-190 Series II USB Driver.
