A PPCH high pressure hydraulic controller must have a stable drive air supply to control within its specifications. PPCH pressure controllers require a large volume of drive air for pump to provide a stable high pressure fluid supply to its control valves.

The below information may be confusing. In summary, if you want to buy a compressor to provide drive air to a PPCH then request a compressor that will provide up to 3100 l/m Free Air Delivery (FAD). This is 100 cfm FAD.
********************************************************
Required Drive Air Pressure Supply and Flow Rate (from the PPCH manual):
minimum pressure |
maximum pressure |
flow rate | |
PPCH-70M | 500 kPa (75 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psig) |
330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig) |
PPCH-100M | 700 kPa (100 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig) |
PPCH-140M | 500 kPa (75 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig) |
PPCH-200M | 700 kPa (100 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig) |
Air compressor manufacturers most often specify FAD (Free Air Delivery) and this is at the compressor's inlet conditions, typically 20C and 101 kPa absolute or 70F and 14.7 psia.
Here are the same requirements with FAD (Free Air Delivery) values to the right.
minimum pressure |
maximum pressure |
flow rate | FAD | |
PPCH-70M | 500 kPa (75 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psig) |
330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig) |
2300 l/m (70 cfm) |
PPCH-100M | 700 kPa (100 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig) |
2300 l/m (70 cfm) |
PPCH-140M | 500 kPa (75 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig) |
3100 l/m (100 cfm) |
PPCH-200M | 700 kPa (100 psi) |
850 kPa (120 psi) |
450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig) |
3100 l/m (100 cfm) |
And just the FAD values:
PPCH-70M: 2300 l/m at 101 kPaa (70 cfm at 14.7 psia)
PPCH-100M: 2300 l/m at 101 kPaa (70 cfm at 14.7 psia)
PPCH-140M: 3100 l/m at 101 kPaa (100 cfm at 14.7 psia)
PPCH-200M: 3100 l/m at 101 kPaa (100 cfm at 14.7 psia)
