This Article is to list the Certification parameters for the Smartview Classic software.
SmartView only uses data files stored on customer equipment (the camera, the local PC, an accessible file share, etc.) and does not send image data anywhere else.
On startup, SmartView attempts to check for a new software version from fluke.com using an https: web query. If the network is not accessible (or fluke.com is blocked), SmartView will work normally.
If a new version is available, the user will be prompted with the suggestion to download the installer (using https:) and begin the update. If the user declines, Smartview will work normally.
When a Fluke thermal imager is connected to the user’s PC with a USB cable and SmartView is run, SmartView will attempt to connect to the camera to determine the camera model and firmware version. The protocol used is RNDIS, using the driver from Microsoft.
If the firmware version can be read from the camera, SmartView will check fluke.com for the current firmware release version for the corresponding camera model (using https:).
If a new version is available, the user will be prompted with the suggestion to download the installer (using https:) and begin the update. If the user declines, Smartview will work normally.
Note that when a new firmware version is available, SmartView is required to be the current released version (as determined above) in order to install it in the camera.
Except as noted above for checking fluke.com for software and camera firmware updates, SmartView runs as a local application.
