Items to check before returning for Service

If the battery has not been recently checked or changed the please change the battery prior to returning as this is often all that is required, see procedure below. Battery Type across the Comark Pocket Digitals is generally standardised to the LR44 Alkaline Cell but the odd one does still use the CR2032 Cell. All of these are readily available in local stockists or online.

Troubleshooting

There is little troubleshooting for Pocket Digital Thermometers as they are simple devices often a reset by removing and refitting the battery can be enough to wake the unit up. If calibration fails to ensure correct working and they are within warranty period please consider returning them otherwise we would recommend replacement and responsible recycling.

If the LCD shows ‘ – – – – ‘ then the probe is open circuit so this will need to be replaced as that cannot be repaired.

Note – if you loose the battery cover on your Pocket Digital we are unable to replace these.

Error Messages

From time to time your Pocket Digital Thermometer might display an error message. These can mean end of life to the Thermometer as a result of over temperature or open circuit probe reading, but in some instances the Thermometer can be recovered.

To determine if the error message is recoverable please follow the battery replacement procedure below but simply remove the battery, wait for up to 1 minute and replace the same battery. If you have a new battery to hand it is often a good idea to replace the battery with new as this can help. If the error message clears then you are good to go. If not then the thermometer must be replaced.

Battery Replacement Procedure

To replace the battery, first locate the battery compartment which is usually located on the rear of the Thermometer and is removed by twisting the round cover anti-clockwise using a screwdriver or small coin. Note – If your Thermometer has a rubber boot fitted you will need to remove this first.

Once released, you might need to tap the Thermometer on to a hard service in order to release the battery cover. Once removed gently remove the existing battery noting the orientation and dispose of responsibly in line with local recycling regulations. Replace with the equivalent cell. Use good quality Alkaline cells as low cost cells can often leak inside the case.
