Before considering returning your probe for repair please consider the condition of the probe and if indeed the cost of return vs simply replacing the probe is justified. If the probe is considered to be expensive and in good condition showing little signs of wear then consider returning it for repair. If the probe is beyond economical repair the Service Department will inform you of this and provide you with a quote to replace.Troubleshooting
There is little troubleshooting for probes other than to check that the probe is compatible with the Instrument to which it is being connected. If the probe is a Thermocouple probe, for Comark Thermometers this would mean either a Blue/Brown (Type T), Green/Red or Yellow (Type K) Lead. Check to confirm that the Thermometer setup is correct for the probe being connected.
Consider why are you returning it, is the probe just not reading at all or is it out of calibration, if out of calibration check that the settings on the thermometer are set correctly for the Thermometer, as above. Check the general condition of the probe and that it will be possible for us to repair it, look for possible issues with the lead in the first place or other reasons for the probe not to function such as damage to the tip of the probe.
Note – Probes that are out of Calibration cannot be ‘adjusted’ so if you determine that the probe is ‘out of specification’ then it is beyond economical repair and will need to be replaced. Check to ensure that the Calibration of the Thermometer is correct as the calibration of the System (Thermometer and Probe) is key to correct function/operation. If the Thermometer has calibration do not attempt to adjust the Thermometer Calibration to take into account poor calibration of the Probe as this is bad practice.
Bent or damage shafts generally cannot be repaired and would be considered beyond economical repair.
