How to upgrade FI-3000 FiberInspector™ Pro Firmware
Download LinkWare PC (v11.5 or later) from the Fluke Networks website.
Install LinkWare PC (Administrator privileges are required for the installation).
Connect the FI-3000 to the PC using the USB cable. The USB C end of the cable connects to the FI-3000. The USB A end of the cable connects to the PC.
Turn the FI-3000 probe ON. A blue light is shown on the FI-3000 when it is on in normal mode.
Open LinkWare PC software Go to Utilities -> FI-3000 -> Software Version...
Make note of the firmware and bootloader versions. If a message box states you cannot connect to the Probe, the firmware version is probably less than or equal to v1.0.2.
The Print and Save functions in the Software Version window let you print the version information or save it in a .txt file.
If the bootloader version is less than v1.1.2 or the firmware version is less than v2.2.1, update the software.
Download the FI-3000 update files:
Go to www.flukenetworks.com/support/downloads.
Search for FI-3000.
Download the update files in a zip folder.
In File Explorer, browse to the zip folder and extract the files. You should now have multiple files including “FI-3000_FW_v2.2.1.fip”, “FI-3000_BL_v1.1.2.fipbl” and README.TXT.
In LinkWare PC software, for each update: If you need to update both the firmware and the bootloader software, do the steps below for each update.
Go to Utilities > FI-3000 > Software Update.
You may see an error message stating that you cannot connect to the probe. If so, press OK.
Follow the onscreen instructions to put the Probe in firmware or bootloader update mode. (In bootloader update mode, all lights will be off; however, Windows should recognize the Probe when it is connected via the USB cable.)
Click Continue.
LinkWare PC searches for the FI-3000. Once connected, LinkWare opens a window to select the update file. Browse to the folder with the extracted files.
To update the firmware, double-click the .fip file.
A window opens, and the update starts automatically. It takes 2 min to 3 min for the firmware update to finish. When the update completes, the lights on the Probe show as a single blue light. If the window does not close, close the window manually.
To update the bootloader, double-click the .fipbl file.
Caution
Do not turn off the Probe or disconnect the USB cable until the update completes. If the update is interrupted, the Probe can be damaged and require service by a Fluke authorized service center.
A window opens, and the update starts automatically. It takes 5 sec to 10 sec for the bootloader update to finish.
If the window does not close automatically or a message shows TimerProc, close the window manually.
Turn the Probe off and then back on.
In LinkWare PC software, click Finish or OK.
If you have the software update files on a disk or USB drive, you can use a PC without an internet connection to update the Probe.
