"End not found" or "- -" listed instead of length measurement?

Normally, a LinkIQ device can measure the length of a given copper cable up to 305 meters (1000 feet). Even if the cable is damaged or faulty, is it typical for the device to be able to least report the length up to the damage, and a test without a cable plugged in at all still reports a length of zero (rather than nothing).

However, in cases where Copper Clad Aluminum is used instead of solid copper cable, it is possible for the LinkIQ to make no length report at all. In the below example, "- -" is seen in the Cable Length field, and the [Pairs] button would lead to a report of all 4 twisted pairs reporting as "End not found"

In our experiments, we found that lengths of over 350 to 400 feet of CCA cable caused too much interference in the LinkIQ's measurements to be able to determine the length.
