Question:
Which combinations of 61xx units can be connected together?
Answer:
The purpose of this article is to clarify the various combinations of 61xx units that can be connected together.
There are three basic models of the 6100 series:
- 6100A/6101A The original instrument. Latest firmware for this PRIOR to the 6105 was 4.07. Following the 6105 release, this firmware was upgraded so that it is capable of being connected to a 6105 (or 6106) which has the firmware version no less than 5.xx.
- 6105A/6106A This is the higher spec replacement for the 6100A/6101A. It has better specifications, better performance and the floppy drive has been replaced by USB. The firmware for this instrument is 2.xx
- 6100B/6101B This is the direct replacement for the 6100A/6101A. It has a similar spec and behavior to the 6100A/6101A, but it can control a 6105A/6106A with its higher performance and range improvements.
The table below shows which units can connect and which version of firmware is required. Of particular note is the 6100A needing firmware version 5.xx to work with the 6105A/6106A/6100B/6101B.
