Important Notes:
Know your PIN code, 6.14 will prompt for PIN when Versiv 2 reboots after the update.
It is always recommended to plug your charger into the Versiv 2 mainframe before doing a software update. Loss of power due to a discharged battery during a software update can put your Versiv 2 unit into an unusable state.
Even though you are performing a field downgrade on the firmware version, all actions related to this on the Versiv 2 mainframe and in Linkware PC refer to it as “update.”
Versiv 2 Downgrade Procedure
Put the Versiv 2 in rescue mode:
For Versiv 2 Mainframe:
- Power off the unit.
- Hold down the HOME and TEST keys.
- Keeping them held down, turn on the tester, then release the Home and Test keys.
- You will see a "RESCUE MODE" screen appear.
Once in rescue mode, run the latest version of LinkWare PC, connect to Versiv 2 over USB, and select the function: UTILITIES → DSX CABLEANALYZER → SOFTWARE UPDATE
Linkware PC will start the process of downgrading. Do not touch the Versiv 2 main unit till it finishes this process. It will restart automatically in normal mode after the downgrade is finished.
After the update/reboot of Versiv 2, check with Linkware PC the new version of firmware in the main unit by selecting: UTILITIES → DSX CABLEANALYZER → SOFTWARE VERSION.
You should get a window confirming that your main instrument has firmware version 6.14 Build 9.
Final Steps
Dismiss any dialog boxes to update the Versiv remote, set a reference between Versiv 2 main and Versiv remote, and continue on with your testing.
If the above procedure was unsuccessful, the next step would require you to contact your local service center for repair.
