This Article is about the PIN requirement on Firmware version 2.5 on the 173X Power Quality Analyzers

As an International company our devices need to meet the European standards for information security. This RED (radio equipment directive) regulatory framework adds a requirement that the device is locked by PIN when not in use.

After completing a firmware update to v2.5 or when launching a new tool for the first time, you will go through a series of setup screens, pictured below.  During setup you will be prompted to create the PIN.

<<IMPORTANT>> If you forget or misplace the PIN you will need to factory reset the device in order to reconfigure it. A factory reset does erase the memory of the device, so before performing the reset you can insert a USB drive into the tool to auto-transfer the data to drive before resetting.
