This Article is about the nuances/ limitations of the Fluke-1770 Series PQ Meter mode.

The 1770 series offers a unique recording mode designed for system monitoring. PQ Meter mode is a recording mode that allows you to set the meter up and leave it indefinitely. Instead of setting a trend interval and duration the mode is set for an automatic 1 second trend and an open duration. The device will record a rolling 24 hours of trend data, releasing old data for new.

Events will also be saved and are not lost after the 24 hour period, however there is a limit of 10,000 events. Once that limit is reached the oldest event will be erased.

Since the Trend data is fixed within a 24-hour sliding window the Demand feature is disabled, and you will not gather kWh data.  If you want to gather demand data you will need to use PQ Logger mode.

Below is a screen shot of the Energy Analyze Plus software showing an example of the Fluke-1777 using the PQ Meter mode for 4 days but the duration states 1 day, 0 hours, 12 minutes and 14 seconds. The session Started on 5/4/2026 at 8:54:41 AM and the End (section) 5/8/2026 7:12:14 AM. Also notice the Start (section) is 5/7/2026 7:00:00 AM. Overall, the meter was evaluating the circuit for 4 days and kept the Event data for that duration, but the Trend data is only the last 24 hours. The Recorded Intervals 87000 (1 second) Trend. The Demand section has three dashes meaning it did not record the kWh data.
