Applies To: 1551A and 1552A "Stik" Thermometer

Problem Description: OL is displayed on the "Stik" Thermometer

Resolution/Work Around: The OL stands for Open Loop. This is caused when the sensor is damaged or cannot be read. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the back of the red case by removing the batteries and the 4 screws holding it together.
  2. Inspect the white and red wires coming from the sensor probe.
  3. Make sure the solder connections are good and solid.
  4. If the solder is not good, re-solder the wire. Stop here the unit is fixed.
  5. If the solder is good, proceed to the next step.

  1. Measure the wires with a Multi or Ohm meter. adjflkdsajf
  2. Red to red should be one ohm or less, white to white should be one ohm or less, and red to white should be approximately 110 ohms at room temperature.
  3. If the ohm readings are good and it still displays OL, the readout will need to be replaced. Stop here.
  4. If the ohm readings are open, proceed to the next step.

  1. Remove the screw in the center of the elbow.
  2. Carefully, inspect the wires running through the elbow.
  3. Look for pinched, cut, or broken wires.
  4. If the wires have an open resistance or the wires are damaged, the sensor probe will need replaced.
