Applies To: 1551A and 1552A "Stik" Thermometer
Problem Description: OL is displayed on the "Stik" Thermometer
Resolution/Work Around: The OL stands for Open Loop. This is caused when the sensor is damaged or cannot be read. Follow these steps:
- Open the back of the red case by removing the batteries and the 4 screws holding it together.
- Inspect the white and red wires coming from the sensor probe.
- Make sure the solder connections are good and solid.
- If the solder is not good, re-solder the wire. Stop here the unit is fixed.
- If the solder is good, proceed to the next step.
- Measure the wires with a Multi or Ohm meter. adjflkdsajf
- Red to red should be one ohm or less, white to white should be one ohm or less, and red to white should be approximately 110 ohms at room temperature.
- If the ohm readings are good and it still displays OL, the readout will need to be replaced. Stop here.
- If the ohm readings are open, proceed to the next step.
- Remove the screw in the center of the elbow.
- Carefully, inspect the wires running through the elbow.
- Look for pinched, cut, or broken wires.
- If the wires have an open resistance or the wires are damaged, the sensor probe will need replaced.
