USB Cradle Not Working

If your USB Cradle is not working then please work your way through the following points step by step to resolve:

  • Has anything changed on the PC? Please check with IT to confirm that nothing has changed before proceeding. If the PC is new then check to confirm that you have all the previous Local Admin Rights. Note EVSW requires Local User Admin Rights to operate. When installing the Software on a New PC make sure you follow the instructions below.
  • You can try downloading and re-installing the software over the original installation, just in case something has changed Click Here to download. The PRO version of the EVSW Software is available see link below - Note only install the EVSW PRO version if you know you were using the PRO version.
  • Check that the Software is say 'Using USB' (top right) for the communications and if not please shut the software down and plug the USB Cradle into another USB Port before re-opening the software and trying again. If all is well the indicator (top left) on the software will turn green from red and the logger should download normally. You can always try to force the download by pressing the Dock (Auto) button to force the connection.
  • If it is saying Using USB Port do you have another Logger you can try? Or can you borrow one from a colleague in another department?
  • If that does not work, but you do have another logger you can try please install the software on another PC, following the strict instructions on this page (see below) for installing the software, noting that the cradle must not be plugged in before the software is installed and then try again.
  • If none of the above works then it is possible that the cradle is not working. Does anyone else have the loggers so that you can try their Cradle? If not then you could try our Service Department on service@comarkinstruments.com to see if they have any cradles (part No N2000CRU or EVTCRU) in stock and available to sell to you as the N2000 range is now obsolete. Otherwise, you will have to search online to see if you can find some available from one of our Distributors.

Soft Reset – Does not Delete Stored Data

Remove the four screws and gently separate the two case halves. Remove the battery and wait for 1 minute before refitting. Note – pay attention to the polarity of the battery when re-fitting. The logger should beep as it re-sets.

Re-fit the two case halves. On models other than the N2011 please pay careful attention to the two PCB connectors between the Lumberg socket and the main PCB. These are often overlooked and mis-aligned. Once you know these are aligned carefully squeeze the case halves together and re-fit the screws and gently tighten them.

Your logger is now reset.

Hard Reset – Only Complete if requested to do so or if there is no Data to Download

If your Data Logger is flagging Error Messages and refuses to connect to the software there is a software reset function available which may help.

Press the button on the Logger and place it face down in the dock. Then select Program – Reset Logger. If successful the Software will report that the logger has been reset.

Note – Resetting the Logger in this way will clear the Logger of any stored data so should only be used if there is no data stored in the Data Logger or there is no data that you need.

External Channels Not Working showing ‘ – – – – ‘ (After Battery Change)

If the LCD shows ‘ – – – – ‘ especially after battery change this is usually due to a mis-alignment of the pins connecting the Lumberg Socket to the main PCB. The problem is easily rectified.

Remove the four screws and gently separate the two case halves. When re-fitting the two case halves pay careful attention to the two PCB connectors between the Lumberg socket and the main PCB. These are often overlooked and mis-aligned. Once you know these are aligned carefully squeeze the case halves together and re-fit the screws and gently tighten them.

EVt2/N2000 Battery Change

Note – The battery in the EVt2 Battery is not replaceable and therefore when this is indicating Low Battery the Logger is considered end-of-life and should be disposed of responsibly in line with local recycling rules.

The battery type required is a Saft LS14500 3.6V Lithium Cell and is available from many online stockists.

N2000 Battery change is straightforward. Remove the four screws and gently separate the two case halves. Remove the battery from the battery clips and dispose of responsibly. Wait for 1 minute before refitting with a new battery.

Your logger is ready for re-use. Note if the logger had stored data that was not downloadable before the battery was changed that this should now be downloadable to the Software.

Ordering New Data Loggers

Warranty

Before returning any Logger to Comark for repair or replacement under warranty please ensure that you include the necessary proof of purchase. Identifying the age of the EVt2 or N2000 Data Loggers is straightforward as the first 4 digits of the Serial Number refer to the Month XX and Year XX of manufacture, so July 2024 would be 0724.
