I cannot connect my Thermal Imager to the Computer to download infrared pictures or videos into Fluke SmartView or Fluke Connect Desktop. The Thermal Imager is not recognized by the software. What is the Problem?


Answer: 

To define a solution to this problem, it is necessary first to check, with which model you observe this:

For thermal camera models TiS10, TiS20, TiS40, TiS45, TiS50, TiS55, TiS60, TiS60+, TiS65, TiS75, Ti200, Ti300, Ti300+, Ti400, Ti400Pro, Ti450, Ti450Pro, Ti401Pro, Ti480, Ti480Pro, TiX500, TiX501, TiX520, TiX580 the main reasons most probably are the following:

  • The RNDIS Communication driver for the Camera is missing.
  • Internet Explorer is trying to connect to the Proxy-Server of the Thermal Imagers Network Adapter.

For thermal camera models PTi120, TiS20+, TiS20+ Max, TiS55+, TiS75+ the most probable reason is the following:

  • You use the older SmartView or Fluke Connect Desktop versions which do not support PTi120, TiS20+, TiS20+ Max, TiS55+, TiS75+ cameras.

The solutions for each of this problems you can find below:

  • The RNDIS Communication driver for the Camera is missing.

To install the driver manually, please proceed by the following manual.

You must have system administrator rights on the computer to perform the following steps
feature.


1. Connect the Thermal Imager to the computer with the USB cable.
2. Open Device Manager on the computer.
3. Find the device. It may be listed as an Unknown Device or in the Ports
(COM and LPT) ”is listed as a USB serial port (COM).



If the driver is installed correctly, the device will appear in the Network Adapters section labeled
RNDIS displayed in the device name.

4. After the device has been found in the Device Manager, right-click on the
Device name and select Update Driver.
5. When the Update Driver window opens, select the Browse my computer option
the end.
6. If SmartView is installed on your computer, go to either of the following
Directories:

32-bit PC: C: \ Programs \ Fluke \ SmartView 4.4 \ TIRNDIS \ W7
or
64-bit PC: C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Fluke \ SmartView 4.4 \ TIRNDIS \ W7

If you have Fluke Connect Desktop installed on your computer, go to one of the two
the following directories:

32-bit PC: C: \ Program Files \ Fluke \ Fluke Connect \ TIRNDIS \ W7
or
64-bit PC: C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Fluke \ Fluke Connect \ TIRNDIS \ W7

Select “OK”.

After the driver has been installed, the device will be listed in the Network Adapters section labeled
RNDIS displayed in the device name.

In some cases a complete restart of your PC may be necessary for Windows to properly launch the driver.

Fluke Connect and SmartView will now recognize the Thermal Imager.

  • Internet Explorer is trying to connect to the Proxy-Server of the Thermal Imagers Networkadapter.

To stop this, please try to disable the proxy server (or add exception there with address: 10. *). You should then be able to establish a connection.

To disable the proxy server, please proceed the following manual:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Setup
3. Click on Internet options
4. Open the Tab Connections
5. Click on LAN Settings
6. Unselect "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN [...]"


If you cannot disable the proxy server, you can also set up an exception for the proxy of the Thermal Imager.
To set up the exception, please proceed the following manual:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Setup
3. Click on Internet options
4. Open the Tab Connections
5. Click on LAN Settings
6. Keep "Use a proxy server for your LAN [...]" selected

7. Click on Advanced
8. In the text field "Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with" add 10. *
9. Click OK to save the changes

  • You use the older SmartView or Fluke Connect Desktop versions which do not support PTi120, TiS20+, TiS20+ Max, TiS55+, TiS75+ cameras.
